WIP: Spinning and Dyeing

Well I have 2 stories to share.

1. It has been a stressful week so I spent my time in front of the wheel.  I spun up about 400 yards of this beautiful alpaca/merino and dyed it in fall colors.  It’s now up on my Etsy Shop if you’d like it.

2. Don’t read further if you’re a vegetarian.

One reason my week has been stressful is I’ve made the decision to cull one of my boys.  He’s been such a snot and beats everyone up until they are bloody and I have to keep him separated which is no good for him mentally.   So, this morning we made the trip to a butcher.  Bless the hearts of the company I’m using, they asked what his name was, gave him a very nice stall to rest in and enjoyed petting him and giving him a treat.   They made me feel very comfortable that he will be treated humanely during the process.  So, next week I’ll be picking him back up again but in a totally different form.  I guess I better start brushing up on my cooking creativity.

I’ll be spending some extra time with all my alpacas tonight watching them and giving them extra treats to curb my gilt.

WIP and Fiber Wordless Wednesday

Here’s what’s on my needles right now. It’s one of the yarns from my TdF… single ply beaded alpaca/wool.
I’m not sure what it’ll end up being sine I don’t know how much yarn I have. Right now it’s a 2k,2p ribbing in the round 80 stitches. It will probably be a cowl or ear warmer.

But for now here’s the Fiber Wordless Wednesday.  Short video of my rescue alpaca Cokie and her bff Goliath.  I guess they had a tiff recently.

WIP: Softer than Clouds

TGI Hump Day, I’m already looking forward to the weekend.

I’ve been a bit under the weather this past week so I have not been as fibery these past few days as I normally am.  I did however mange to spin up a skein from the new Cria/Tencel roving I have.   OH MY GOSH! Is it soft and OH so silky.   There are a few VM bits that snuck through the mill process but since the fiber is so fine and slippery they are really easy to pick out if I happen upon one.

I’ve listed the skein I worked up on Etsy but it will only be available in it’s natural state until the weekend.  Otherwise I plan on dying it.  So, if you want it as is act quickly!

Speaking of alpacas these animals totally freak me out sometimes.  I seriously have no idea how their necks work, it’s just too weird to see how flexible they are and poses like this one just look wrong.

WIP and Fiber Wordless Wednesday

Here’s what’s on my needles!

I’m working on this Diagonal Rib Cowl Pattern using the very last ball of gray alpaca I have from my boys.

Here’s this wee’s Fiber Animal photo.  We’re still doing halter training with some of our cria.  This one planted all 4 feet and decided she wasn’t going to walk anymore.

WIP and Fiber Wordless Wednesday

Yeah for hump day!

So I have made a ton of FO’s this week and only have one WIP to share.

My wool/tencel blend basket weave scarf.  Did I mention that I can’t stand knitting? I’m so much slower at it but only way to get faster is to practice so I figured a basket weave scarf can only help with my issue switching from K to P.

Of course Wednesday also means Fiber Animal Photos!  Here’s my contribution for the week share a link of yours too!
